TapouT XT Day Twenty Three - Buns & Guns
Today we had our first round of TapouT XT Buns & Guns. When I saw that it was only 31 minutes long I thought, OK this shouldn't be that bad. Well that faded quickly once the workout began, it's an explosive intense routine. My biceps were screaming and I worked my triceps to failure. The inclusion of core was wicked, what a great 31 minutes.
Chasing it with Ultimate Abs seemed like it was going to be too much. We were pleasantly surprised at how well we were able to keep up. There are a couple of moves we jam our feet under the couch to help us get through so hopefully by the end we'll not need that slight cheat. I started off much better with this routine today. My core is definitely feeling a bit stronger so I'm pushing as much as I can. I have a long way to go and we only have a little over 8 weeks left in the first round of TapouT. We always said we thought it would take two rounds to reach our fitness goals but since we want it badly why not go all out and see where we end up.
Our diet is starting to fall into place. We are probably going to drop all grains and dairy products for 30 days to see how our bodies react. There is a lot of information about the negative effects of grains and dairy so why not give it a try. We may have some crash days but we already cut refined sugar, soda, etc. from our diets years ago (not counting the occasional treat) so hopefully we'll adjust a little faster than others. It can take up to three weeks so worst case scenario is we'll have to put TapouT on hold and pick back up where we left off, hopefully not.
For fuel we'll need to increase our consumption of fat, seems counterintuitive to what we've been told our entire lives. I experimented a little last week and by Saturday I had endless energy like when I was a child. I introduced grains during the weekend and experienced the carb flu symptoms today. I've been wanting to try it and Mandi is interested too so here we go! Figuring out what to eat for each meal is getting a bit harder but we'll look for some websites to help us along the way.
