TapouT XT Day Three - Plyo XT
Today we muddled through day three of TapouT XT. I've read that Plyo XT is loathed by most but overall I didn't think it was that bad. Out of the three DVDs we've done, Plyo had me taking the most breaks. It's like strength cardio so it gets your heart pumping and keeps it there. This type of workout is more to Mandi's liking since it has a strong cardio component which is what she wants. When she was a member of some friends' gym, Good Friends Group Fitness, she found that after doing the cardio workouts three to four times a week the extra weight just started burning off of her.
We scanned the TapouT XT workout calendar and it appears to start adding more cardio as we go and then stepping up the frequency of cardio each week. The program seems like it's going to wake up our muscles, give them hell to make them grow, then use them in high paced cardio to beat our bodies into shape. If so, that's awesome.
The TapouT XT program appears to be a good mix between whole body strength training and cardiovascular conditioning. Being an all inclusive functional fitness program it covers everything we need. In fear of over training we are only performing the DVDs since this program is so intense, not like I have anything left for anything else anyway.
I haven't mentioned how sore we've been but today it has let up a little. We don't expect not to be sore but the first couple days really has you aching all over. Today wasn't as bad so it appears our bodies are beginning to settle down but who knows what shock the next workouts will bring.
