TapouT XT Day Thirty - Ripped Conditioning
Today we reached day thirty of TapouT XT and had our first round of Ripped Conditioning. What a great upper body strength training routine. It surprisingly had very few push-ups but the resistance band work was sweet. We both pushed hard to start building up our arms, backs, and shoulders. I'm typical in that my triceps are quite lacking so I needed them to be worked today, whew. Ripped conditioning was the last routine to be completed so now we've been through all of the TapouT XT workouts. What a great way to end the first 30 days.
It's hard to fathom that there are only eleven full workouts, Ultimate Abs makes twelve, but the program feels so diverse. Even though there are times I know which move is next, most of the time I'm waiting for Mike to call it out. Each time we perform a video I catch something new or concentrate a little harder on a specific move. We have definitely built up our repetition speed but we still can't keep up with Mike's hyperdrive when it kicks in.
Speaking of Ultimate Abs, today we both did a great job with it. I'm realizing where I really need to focus to keep my abs burning the entire time even though I have to take several 2-3 second breaks. It's a great 15 minute ab blaster and one I intend to continue doing for years. Mandi isn't fond of it at all but she does a great job. It is quite grueling but we can feel the muscles building under our, ah hem, bellies.
Tonight we made a wonderful Chicken Tikka Masala and I must credit the PRIME pursuit for the recipe. It was creamy, spicy and just delicious. I am so glad we have a tool such as the internet to help us through our dietary changes. I'm sure we will find several other great sites so we'll be sure to share.
TapouT XT 30 Day Results and Review
We haven't really discussed our results from TapouT XT but it's hard to hit day 30, a program milestone, and not say something. We both exercised in the past and have only gained back some weight, about 10 pounds each, so we don't expect really big numbers from this first round of TapouT. Without further ado... here are the numbers:
John | Wt | Hips | Chest | Bicep | Waist |
Day 1 1/13/13 |
150 | 35.75 | 37.5 | 12 | 36.25 |
Day 30 2/11/13 |
144.25 | 34.5 | 35.5 | 12 | 34.5 |
Mandi | Wt | Hips | Chest | Bicep | Waist |
Day 1 1/13/13 |
134 | 35 | 36.5 | 11 | 32 |
Day 30 2/11/13 |
130 | 33.75 | 35.5 | 11 | 31.25 |
As you can see, nothing huge. However there have been results. I have lost over five pounds and Mandi has lost four. We both lost over an inch from our hips and our waists have gotten smaller too. Mandi lost an inch from her chest while I have lost two, mostly my man boobs. Our biceps are exactly the same size as before so no change there. I think Mandi would be happier if she shed a little more but we've been building muscles while burning off some fat so there's always a trade off.
I don't want anyone to look at our numbers and think we are just trying to get super skinny. We are both small framed people and have been carrying a nice sized amount of fat around our stomachs. We still have a good deal of fat which is why we can't see any ab muscles even though we are beginning to feel them under there. I was once super skinny and have no desire to get that thin again but I do want to lean out. If, over time, I can build up some muscle weight then great. Right now I need to burn off all of the fat I can for a healthier me, likewise for Mandi. By almost all standards we were considered ideal or healthy but we didn't feel that way. At the end of TapouT we'll see if we've reached where we want to be or if another round will be necessary, the most likely scenario.
If we were to do it all over again and had to choose a 60-90 day program we'd pick TapouT XT, no doubts. It's an extreme but well put together program. We like the high paced and varied style of each workout. Mike has a great personality and he is immensely infectious. I'm sure we would be fine with a more sterile approach but the fact that he is being himself is a great bonus. I prefer real people to a "professional persona".
If you're reading this and haven't decided on a 90 day program then I suggest you do so. I prefer TapouT but starting any one of them will bring you results. Getting started is just as important as working out each day. If you like MMA or fighting moves then order TapouT XT. You will not be disappointed. It is a great high intensity explosive program. At times it will beat you down and at others you will kick it back. We should have ordered it the first time I saw the infomercial!
